As a college student you need to make sure that you are being extra careful with your credit.  Often times college students use credit cards to pay for things they want or need to make due.  Most college students do not have a lot of income which is why they tend to use credit cards.  Students need to remember that a credit card is not free money; it all has to be paid back, with interest.  Limit the use of credit cards to emergencies.
It has been said more times than anyone who can count, create a budget and stick to it.  This is been said so many times because of how important it is.  Having a budget will help you to see where your money is going and to make adjustments so that you can save more money.
Take advantage of student perks.  There are so many things that you can get at lower cost or for free even as long as you are a student.  You need to carry your student ID with you everywhere you go so when you run into an opportunity to get a discount with it you will have it with you.  Look for an opportunity you can to get a discount as a student.
As often as you can put money into a savings account.  The more you can save now the better off you will be later.  It is helpful to saving when you have a budget.  Do what you need to do to save, buy generic items instead of name brands, trade clothes with your friends instead of buying new, shop at thrift stores instead of department stores.  There are many ways to make sure that you can do what you can to save.
College students have so much to worry about to begin with, getting good grades, studying, and so on, most do not think about saving or retirement or budgeting.  They need to take the time to not only think about those things but to also take action toward them.  It may take a little time but it is a necessity.
