If you are one of the many people who want to get started in the exciting world of couponing there are some things that you should know first. While it is exciting to get great deals and save a lot of money, there is a little work you must do before you go to the store. Here are some tips for those amateurs who are looking to become a couponer.
You need to have a shopping list. Many of you have probably used shopping lists before; after all they are very common. When you are a couponer, your shopping list is a bit different. When you create your shopping list, you must create it using your coupons. When you put something on your list, you must put down the brand that you need to get, the size, and the amount. This way you do not have to take the time to refer to the coupons while you are shopping. You know that you are planning to get this, so you do not have to look for the coupon, it will be with other coupons to hand to the cashier all at once.
You have to read your coupons closely. Most people have been told at some point or another to read the fine print. This is true even when you are a couponer. The fine print will either say that it cannot be combined with another offer, or it won’t. If it does not say that it cannot be combined with another offer, then you can use more than one coupon on one item, so long as you have more than one coupon.
One thing that you should keep in mind is that you always want to watch out for buy-one-get-one-free sales. What no one is going to tell you is that you can use a coupon on these sales, often on both products. That means on the product you purchased and on the product you got for free, to get four times the savings.
You must stay organized if you want to be a couponer. While you do not want to have to take the time to go through all of your coupons at the store, you do want them to be close by. Keep them organized and paper clipped to your grocery list. This will allow you to give the coupons to the cashier so they can quickly swipe them, so you do not upset those behind you.
If you want to be a couponer you can save a lot of money, if you do a little work. If you do not want to do it alone, get a friend to do it with you. You can compare strategies, and find out who saves more money on each trip to the store. Just remember for couponers, a little work can be a lot of savings.
